Student Session Confidentiality and Patient-Partnership Information Safeguards
The Nursing Education Support and Tutoring Center of Northeast Florida, LLC, is committed to maintaining a respectful and privacy-conscious learning environment. Because tutoring sessions may involve discussion of clinical scenarios or nursing experiences, the following safeguards are in place to help prevent the disclosure of protected health information.
1. Educational Discussions Only
Tutoring sessions are intended for educational purposes and concept review. Discussions may include general clinical scenarios or nursing concepts, but they should remain hypothetical or de-identified. Conversations during tutoring sessions should not involve identifiable patient information.
2. Prohibited Disclosure of Patient Information
Students and participants must not share protected health information during tutoring sessions. This includes, but is not limited to:
- patient names
- dates of birth
- addresses or contact information
- medical record numbers
- facility or hospital identifiers
- photographs or images of patients
- any details that could reasonably identify an individual patient
If clinical experiences are discussed, all identifying details must be removed so that the situation cannot be traced to a specific patient.
3. Tutor Safeguards
Tutors are expected to maintain a professional learning environment and may redirect or end a conversation if patient-identifying information is shared. Tutors may remind participants to keep discussions general and focused on educational concepts.
4. Educational Guidance Only
Information shared during tutoring sessions is intended for academic support and discussion of nursing concepts. It should not be interpreted as clinical instruction, patient care direction, or professional medical advice.
Participants remain responsible for complying with all privacy policies, confidentiality rules, and professional standards required by their academic institutions, employers, or clinical training sites.
5. Confidentiality Expectations
Tutoring sessions may involve discussions of academic experiences, coursework, or professional development. Participants should respect the privacy of others and avoid sharing confidential academic or personal information outside the session environment.
6. Policy Updates
The Nursing Education Support and Tutoring Center of Northeast Florida, LLC may update this policy periodically to reflect operational or legal considerations. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of these safeguards.
